Pittsburgh Steelers set initial practice squad of 10 players

According to Steelers.com, the the team has signed 10 players for their practice squad. The initial members of the practice squad are as follows:

  • RB Brandon Brown-Dukes
  • RB Cameron Stingily
  • WR Demarcus Ayers
  • WR Cobi Hamilton
  • TE Rashaun Allen
  • T Matt Feiler
  • DE Caushaud Lyons
  • DE Johnny Maxey
  • LB Travis Feeney
  • CB Al-Hajj Shabazz

Of the 10 players acquired, TE Rashaun Allen is the only player who was not with the Steelers during the preseason. He was released this weekend by the New Orleans Saints, after previously making the 2014 Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted player out of FBS Southern University.

Other notable additions include two Pittsburgh 2016 draft picks, 6th round selection Travis Feeney, and 7th round pick Demarcus Ayers.

WR Cobi Hamilton, who was signed in August after being released by the Carolina Panthers, also makes this list, as does running back Brandon Brown-Dukes, who was signed following the roster spot created when the Steelers parted ways with longtime kicker Shaun Suisham.

Also noteworthy is that last year’s fourth round pick, CB Doran Grant, was not retained by the team.
