Steelers losses in big win over Chiefs

Okay, I’ll start “Victory Monday” off as the “Debbie Downer” of Team SCU: the Steelers had a number of victories in their huge win over the Chiefs on Sunday night, but for the second straight game, several players received dents and dings, with their status unknown going forward.

The Steelers are already reeling from 7 players that were ruled out for Sunday night, and of which, are starters and/or major contributors:

Nix, Wallace and Golson have yet to contribute at all this season; Nix and Wallace were major contributors last year. Nix provided a crushing block on Le’Veon Bell‘s last-second, game-winning touchdown against San Diego, as well as a forced fumble on special teams against the Raiders. Wallace became the starting center for the year when Maurkice Pouncey was injured in the preseason, while Golson’s story is another article in-and-of itself!

With Pittsburgh already feeling the sting from the injury bug to those players, the Steelers had to make up for starting safety Robert Golden, starting right guard Ramon Foster, defensive play caller Ryan Shazier, and starting slot receiver Eli Rogers against the Chiefs.

Following Sunday’s game, five more names have been added to the wait-and-see list, according to Mike Tomlin’s postgame press conference:

Hopefully none of these injuries are severe, as the team is already thin at outside linebacker, in the secondary, and on the offensive line.

The Steelers will host the struggling New York Jets as the second of a two-game home stand at Heinz Field, this Sunday at 1 p.m. The availability of the above players will be known throughout the week, with a status update during Tomlin’s weekly press conference on Tuesday.
