Steelers add Vince Williams’ little brother, Karlos, to practice squad

Earlier today the Pittsburgh Steelers bolstered their roster by adding former Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams, the younger brother of Steelers linebacker Vince Williams, to the roster:

A 5th round rookie with the Bills last season, Williams backed up LeSean McCoy, but was thrust into duty when McCoy was injured early in the year. In two of those starts, Williams eclipsed the century mark in rushing yards.

Overall the former Florida State product posted 517 rushing yards on 93 carries, and 7 rushing touchdowns, in 2015. Karlos was far from one-dimensional, also adding 11 receptions for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns catching passes out of the backfield. However, he became expendable after the NFL suspended him for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

It was also reported he showed up to training camp out of shape.

Suspended for the first four games of the season, Williams was expendable, yet, it was surprising the Bills released the productive player after one year of duty.

Williams immediately met with the Steelers following his release. No other news came of that meeting.

Following the expiration of his suspension, Williams reportedly met with Buffalo again last week, but ultimately ended up with the Steelers.

To make room for his signing to their practice squad, the Steelers released running back David Cobb.
