DSG August 7th – Family Fest at Heinz Field; Harrison Active in Practice

In case you missed it, here’s the Daily Steelers Grind for August 7th, 2017, highlighting some of the best Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL content out there.

‘Family Fest’ A Hit

For the first time ever, the Pittsburgh Steelers put a twist on their Sunday night practice by making it a part of the ‘Steelers Family Fest’; hosting it at Heinz Field. Not only were current players active participants, but a few familiar former Steelers were present to give fans a great experience.

Fans Recognized

Steelers Nation Unite, the Steelers’ official fan club, handed out awards on the field to fans.

And not just fans, but celebrity fans!

Who’s wearing that No. 7 jersey?

Two players decided to celebrate practice in front of the fans in an unexpected way. Well, you’ll see what we mean…

Both Roethlisberger and Harrison later put their proper jerseys back on.

James Harrison out of sweats, into uniform

We’ve been watching Harrison’s intense workout program the entire offseason, but until Sunday night the veteran linebacker had mainly been seen at camp in sweats. Fans were excited to see him with the rest of the guys on the field. Harrison’s reps were limited but he entertained when Chris Boswell kicked off for the one and only time of the practice, standing on the field as the lone returner. Harrison jogged with no blockers, drawing cheers. At the end of practice, Harrison graciously signed autographs for fans.

Conner a fan-favorite; among those not practicing

Rookie James Conner garnered plenty of fan support (as he has with his jersey sales) at Heinz Field although he was among several players who did not participate in Sunday night’s practice including Landry Jones, Demarcus Ayers, Cam Sutton, Mike Mitchell, Artie Burns, Senquez Golson, Farrington Huguenin, Bud Dupree, Ryan Shazier, Maurkice Pouncey, Stephon Tuitt and Keion Adams. Many were non-participants due to a coach’s decision; others due to injury.
