Stats to watch out for: Steelers vs. Browns (Week 1)

If the Chiefs vs. Patriots game was any indication of how the rest of the 2017 season will go, then we’re in for some excitement. Starting this week, I’ll be writing a weekly “Stats To Watch Out For” article that will go over, well…stats to watch out for during the game. Let’s dive into the Week 1 numbers:

300

Ben Roethlisberger will become the ninth quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 300 yards in 50 regular season games if he reaches that mark this Sunday and the eighth to do so with just one team. Carson Palmer and Aaron Rodgers are also at 49 games going into their Week 1 games.

190

Ben needs just 190 passing yards to pass Fran Tarkenton (47,003) for ninth-most in NFL history.

104

With a win on Sunday, Mike Tomlin will pass John Madden on the most career wins by a head coach list. He is currently tied with Madden at 38th with 103 wins.

100

If Antonio Brown gains 100 yards or more vs. the Browns, he will break a tie with Hines Ward (29) for the most 100-yard receiving games in team history.

51

Antonio Brown needs one touchdown catch to tie Lynn Swann for the third-most receiving touchdowns in team history. AB currently has 50 career touchdown catches.

36

Big Ben is 36 completions away from surpassing Drew Bledsoe (3,839) for ninth-most in NFL history.

26

Le’Veon Bell needs only 26 scrimmage yards to move into eighth in team history. Is the number a coincidence? I think not.

5

If AB gets a punt return for a touchdown, he will break the tie with wide receiver Antwaan Randle El (4) for the most in Steelers history.
