2017 Steelers Week 2 Defensive Play of the Game: Bud Dupree is back… with a sack!

Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2017 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!

Steelers Nation was bummed to hear Bud Dupree was ruled out of Week 1’s opener against the Cleveland Browns. Fans and analysts alike have pegged Dupree to have a “breakout” year after lighting the world on fire for the final five weeks of the 2016 regular season.

When we learned Dupree was active for Week 2’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings, fans rejoiced. Maybe we could see what a young and healthy Pittsburgh Steelers defense might look like.

Dupree didn’t disappoint on Sunday.

The Steelers needed a big play nearing the end of the first half on a third-and-seven from Minnesota’s 45-yard line. Vikings QB Case Keenum dropped back to pass, and as if it were in slow motion, many of us could see Bud Dupree bearing down on the passer… but would he seal the deal?

Watch the clip below to see Dupree engulf Keenum in this defensive play of the week.
