Watch: Ryan Shazier’s game-changing interception

Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2017 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!

Sitting with family and friends watching Sunday’s game, this amazing play by Ryan Shazier made me say: “He’s the closest thing to Troy we’ve got right now.”

“Troy” refers to former Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, who always had a knack for coming up with game-changing plays at the most unexpected time.

Shazier has started to carve out a niche for the same, as the linebacker (yes, linebacker, not defensive back) leads the team in interceptions after somehow keeping his eye on the ball all the way through the following play, and making a catch.

The interception set up the Steelers for a touchdown and game-tying two-point conversion.

Polamalu would be proud.
