Watch: Ben Roethlisberger is the master of the play fake

Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2017 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!

There are some things that are such a natural beauty in life you can’t bother but marvel in awe at them. The changing of the seasons. The holiday decorations downtown. Ben Roethlisberger selling a play fake.

Yes, the last one is a thing of beauty, as displayed during Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts. Down 14 points, the Steelers were in desperate need of a touchdown. With the league’s best running back behind him, Big Ben runs a “play action” pass, which is a fake handoff. By design, it’s intended to fool a defense into defending a run play, opening up receivers from being covered.

As shown in the video below, Roethlisberger executes the play fake to perfection, finding JuJu Smith-Schuster wide open in the end zone for the touchdown.
