Bold Predictions for the biggest game this Sunday: Steelers vs. Patriots

As we all know, the stage has been set for what will probably be the most important regular season game in the NFL so far this season. The Steelers hold the top seed in the playoff picture after the Patriots’ loss to the Dolphins on Monday night. However, let’s not forget how good this Patriots team is.

Led by arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, the Patriots will come in angry and seeking revenge after their embarrassing performance.

With a win and a Jaguars loss, the Steelers clinch home-field advantage in the playoffs. However, if they lose, the Patriots will hold the advantage in a tiebreaker situation.

With all of that on the table, this game should be a fun one to watch. Last week, I was actually surprised with how some of my predictions were exceeded last week (AB and Ben’s performances), but some weren’t even close (Vince Williams).

Here are my bold predictions for this week with hopes that they will come true.

At least one interception for the Steelers secondary

In the Mike Tomlin era, the Steelers defense has struggled against Tom Brady. In fact, a Mike Tomlin coached team has never recorded an interception on Brady.

I think this is the year that statistic changes!

Last week against the Ravens, the Steelers secondary struggled to cover the deep ball. That was one of the main reasons why the Ravens were able to stay in the game. However, there is a key piece that may be returning to the Steelers defense: Joe Haden. I believe that Haden is a key difference maker and records an interception against Brady.

JuJu Is The X-Factor

Following his huge performance last week, it is safe to say that the Patriots will be keying on Antonio Brown this Sunday.

With that being said, the Steelers will need another receiver to step up this week. Coming off of his one-game suspension, JuJu Smith-Schuster will be hungry for some action against the Patriots. This will be a stand out performance and a revenge game for JuJu after receiving an unfair ruling last week.

My prediction for JuJu is 110 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Two Scores For Bell

Last week, we saw a dominant performance in the passing game from the Steelers offense. I believe that we see some of the same this week, however, the passing game will set up running back Le’Veon Bell.

The Patriots defense has only allowed five rushing touchdowns so far this season but they have yet to face a running back of the same caliber as Bell. I see Bell breaking through for two touchdowns while also being very involved in the passing game.

Steelers Win By A Field Goal… AGAIN!

As I already mentioned, there is a lot at stake in this matchup. These stakes will make for a very close game. Even the bookies have this listed as a three-point spread.

Fans of both teams should prepare themselves for multiple lead changes and a game that will be down to the wire. I believe that whoever has the ball last will win this game.

My prediction is that the Steelers defense will get a clutch stop with the crowd going crazy at Heinz Field and then the offense will set up Chris Boswell for another opportunity to be a hero. As we have seen this season, Boswell lives for these moments!

Boswell will win this game for the Steelers and keep them at the top of the AFC.
