Plays of the Year: Chris Boswell’s career-long field goal is the game winner

Steel City Underground presents “Plays of the Year” featuring the tops runs, catches, hits and everything else in-between for the Steelers 2017 season.

We often have an internal debate here at Steel City Underground whether Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell should be considered a “Killer B”.

If anything, Boswell’s 2017 season helped solidify his status as an ice cold, Killer B!

One of those performances came on a Sunday night game against the Green Bay Packers, where the “Wizard of Boz” nailed a game-winning kick as time expired.

With nine seconds on the game clock from Pittsburgh’s own 33-yard line, the Steelers attempted to gain more ground in order to make a potential tie-breaking Boswell kick easier. However, they ended up losing two yards instead.

The air came out of the stadium, as Boswell previously missed his first extra point attempt of the evening: a much closer kick.

Now moving the field goal try back two more yards, to a 53-yard attempt, could be problematic as Boswell’s previous long was a 51-yard attempt, and the longest field goal ever made at Heinz Field was the same 53-yard distance Boswell was about to attempt.

But no worries Steelers Nation: Chris Boswell has ice flowing through his veins… like a “killer” or “Killer B” should!
