Steelers score 30+, Ben’s TD total, and more bold predictions against the Colts

I’m back to my tricks this week, looking to pull a few rabbits out of my hat following some solid predictions for what seems like ages ago against the Lions.

The Steelers didn’t score, but JuJu did… but he couldn’t get Ben to dance with him. Shame. He did chain a bike up, and I think there could be more fun to be had this week, where I’m carrying over a few of the same predictions, based on, what appears on paper to be, a very weak Colts team.

Steelers score 30-plus

Yes, I’ve been calling for this each week, and that’s because I think the offense will eventually break free… and that the defense will score at some point, to help eclipse the 30-point mark. So, I’m sticking with this one until it happens. (And then I’ll raise the bar to 40 points!)

Ben Roethlisberger throws three touchdown passes

Did you know that Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t thrown three touchdown passes in a game all season?

He’s only thrown two TD passes in an individual game in three of the Steelers eight games so far this year too.

Against a secondary missing two of their opening day starters, and struggling overall, I believe Ben will open up this weekend.

Who is Vance McDonald?

I’m going to ask this twice, Jeopardy-style, in the form of a question.

Name a player who will have a big game on Sunday.

Vance McDonald’s healthy and ready to roll. We’ve seen glimpses of the Steelers trying to get him involved in the offense, and considering Ladarius Green had a breakout game against the Colts last year, I think this is Vance’s coming out party. Maybe only four catches, but he’ll get a splash play or two in…

Who is Martavis Bryant?

As will Martavis Bryant. The game plan against the Colts last year involved Sammie Coates, who didn’t play but a handful of snaps for weeks, because his hand was injured. That didn’t prevent the Steelers from sending him on deep routes, and considering the smoke around the Bryant campfire, I believe they’ll want to utilize Martavis more in this week’s plans.

I also have that gut feeling that the Colts secondary is not only weak, but they only have so many bodies to cover all of the Steelers offensive weapons. That’s why players like Bryant and McDonald could fly under the radar, as Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster take priority.

T.J. Watt gets 2 sacks

I want to see Watt in the Rookie of the Year conversation, and he can inch closer with a big game against the Colts. The interior linemen of the Colts aren’t very strong, so they’re going to need help from their tackles. This could really open up the game for the Steelers defensive linemen, such as Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, and Javon Hargrave, who have all been wrecking havoc on the opposition, but I feel that could further open up things for Watt and possibly Bud Dupree.

Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett has been sacked a league-high 32 times this season, which means the Steelers should feast in Indy.
