Watch: Cameron Heyward’s “you’re going nowhere” sack

Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2017 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!

The Steelers defense didn’t look great two and a half quarters into Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers. The other side of the football relinquished big plays, giving up 21 points to where the Steelers offense had trailed midway into the third quarter. Despite the bad start, Pittsburgh suggests that they are a team ready for the big occasion, capable of keeping their cool under pressure as they put the clamps down on the Packers as the game wore on.

Calling upon the D to make a stand, the Steelers tied the 21-all and needed another big stop.

Enter Steelers DE Cameron Heyward, one of, in my opinion, the most underrated players in the entire National Football League. Green Bay’s final possession of the third quarter begins with Heyward and CB Mike Hilton putting the breaks on Green Bay RB Jamaal Williams for a two-yard loss.

Hilton helps again on second down, forcing an incompletion, which sets up a 3rd-and-12 from the Packers 23.

It’s Heyward time, as Packers QB Brett Hundley attempts to sneak out of a collapsing pocket, but is solidly wrapped up and pulled to the ground by Cam for a sack and four-yard loss.

The Packers would be forced to punt on the next play, and the Steelers would eventually come out on top with a 31-28 victory.

Make no mistake about it: Cam Heyward deserves the recognition for his second multi-sack game of the 2017 season. Even his teammates, such as Bud Dupree, feel he should be considered for the Pro Bowl.
