Running the Numbers: What to look for when the Steelers play the Browns

The Steelers

  • With a win, the Steelers will improve to 13-3, 10-2 vs. AFC, and finish with a 6-2 record at home and a 6-0 divisional record in the AFC North in the 2017 regular season.
  • With a win over Browns, the Steelers would improve to 457-285-2 during the regular season since 1970.
  • The Steelers look to improve to 72-58 all-time against the Browns in regular-season history, to 44-21 at home and to 16-1 at Heinz Field in the regular season.
  • Pittsburgh aims to extend its winning streak against Cleveland to six games, dating back to Nov. 15, 2015, and to 14 consecutive at home, dating back to Oct. 10, 2004.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin

  • A win would improve Tomlin to 116-60 during the regular season (65-23 at home).
  • With a win, would move to 87-45 in regular-season games vs. AFC (48-18 at home).
  • Looks to improve to 19-3 n his regular-season Steelers tenure against the Browns and to 11-0 at home.
  • With a win, would improve to 33-14 in the month of December and to 21-7 at home during the month.

Ben Roethlisberger

  • With a win, would improve to 136-63 as a starter during the regular season and to 75-24 at home.
  • With a win, would improve to 22-2 vs. Cleveland in the regular season as a starter and to 11-0 at homea against the Browns.
  • With a win, will move to 42-15 in regular-season games in the month of December, including 25-9 at home.

Le’Veon Bell

  • His next 100-yard rushing game will mark the 19th of his NFL career and his fifth of 2017.
  • Will break a tie with Kordell Stewart (35) for sole possession of the third-most rushing touchdowns in franchise history with his next touchdown run.
  • Is one touchdown from scrimmage from tying Ray Mathews (43) for the ninth-most touchdowns in team history, and three from tying Heath Miller (45) for the eighth-most.
  • Will record the second 1,300-rushing yard season of his NFL career with nine yards (2014: 1,361).
  • Is 44 rushing yards from surpassing Willie Parker (5,378) for the third most in Steelers history.
  • Needs 72 rushing yards to establish a new single-season career high (2014: 1,361).
  • With 54 yards from scrimmage, will record the second season of his NFL career with at least 2,000 yards (2014: 2,215).

Antonio Brown

  • Will increase his Steelers record for the most 100-yard receiving games in team history to 38 with his next 100-yard game.
  • Needs one touchdown to break a tie with John Stallworth (64) for sole possession of the fourth-most total touchdowns by a Steeler in team history (rushing+receiving+returning).
  • Is four touchdown catches from tying John Stallworth (63) for the second-most in franchise history.

Cameron Heyward

  • Will extend his single-season career-high in sacks with his next quarterback takedown (12.0 in 2017).
  • Is two sacks from matching Keith Willis (1983: 14.0) for the-most by a Steeler defensive lineman in a single-season since the statistic became official in 1982.

William Gay

  • Will break a tie with Rod Woodson to set the record for the most interceptions returned for touchdowns in team history with his next pick six of six.

Chris Boswell

  • Will extend his franchise record for the most field goals made in a season with his next conversion (35).
  • Is four points from surpassing Norm Johnson (1995: 141) for the most points scored in a season by a Steeler in team history.
