Watch: Landry Jones’ imitates “Big Ben” on 71-yard JuJu Smith-Schuster TD

Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2018 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!

Seldom do preseason games offer so many big plays, but the Steelers were benefactors of not only one, but two long touchdown pass plays in their Thursday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Following a couple of stalled offensive possessions in the first quarter, the Steelers took the field again as backup quarterback Landry Jones received the start in this exhibition game. Jones gives a hard count on an aggressive Eagles defensive front, with DT Elijah Qualls jumping offside: a classic tactic used by regular season starter Ben Roethlisberger.

There’s no doubt that Jones has seen this before and knew exactly what to do: as did his receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who absolutely goes up and high-points the football over Eagles defender Rasul Douglas.

Smith-Schuster continues into the end zone untouched for six points, capping the 71-yard play and both Jones and JuJu’s evenings (as each headed to the bench to make way for other players to get playing time). The connection put the Steelers up early in the first quarter 7-0, en route to a 31-14 victory.
