It’s finally Draft Day Steelers Nation and what better way to mark the occasion by compiling all of our Steel City Underground team’s picks into one condensed article!

Below you’ll see who our contributors chose as Pittsburgh’s pick, as well as a brief quote from the commenter on why that was their “guy” and a link to continue reading their full 7-round mock draft.

Note: All picks are first-round selections.

Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

What they said:

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that Devin Bush is their guy. The only question is will he be available at pick 20? I debated hard on not even including him in my mock. Even told my colleagues he’s not my pick, for the simple fact that it’s too good to be true.

But with all the information coming out about who other teams are looking at, it seems like Bush may actually fall. He doesn’t have to play immediately with the signing of Mark Barron, but he is a long-term solution at the ILB spot.

Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

What they said:

I’ll admit I went back and changed my original pick here after doing a lot of thinking. This is mainly due to the fact that I think the board is changing with the picks before 20.

With that being said, I believe it’s looking more likely that Bush falls to us at this spot. Bush would give us the athletic inside linebacker that the Steelers have been searching for since losing Shazier and would be the face of this defense for many years to come.

Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

What they said:

Devin White is the consensus top linebacker in this class and in order for Devin Bush to go, Devin White needs to go first. The farther Devin White falls hypothetically, the farther Devin Bush falls, and hopefully right into Pittsburgh’s lap.

T.J. Hockenson, TE – Iowa

What they said:

I can’t ignore that Vance McDonald has failed to play a full season and that Jesse James left via free agency. If McDonald gets hurt, that leaves the Steelers with Xavier Grimble and Bucky Hodges.

I feel the WR room has plenty of depth right now with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Donte Moncrief, James Washington, Eli Rogers and Ryan Switzer: that’s five more than capable bodies there.

This factors into my decision to add a great chess piece to compliment McDonald and those receivers.

Greedy Williams, CB – LSU

What they said:

[Greedy Williams] makes a ton of sense for the Steelers. First of all, Mike Tomlin was all over him at his pro day… history says that the Steelers tend to select players who had Tomlin and Kevin Colbert both at his pro day.

Regarding need, I think Pittsburgh is perfect for Greedy because it allows him to come and take a year or so to develop. People dog is work ethic and unenthusiastic tackling, but I think it would greatly benefit him being mentored by Joe Haden and Steven Nelson for a season.

Brian E. Roach

Greedy Williams, CB – LSU

What they said:

Williams is athletic and long, and moves with fluidity and smoothness. He has the right instincts to be a lock down corner and a high level CB1.  Williams also can be what the Steelers defense lacked a bit last year, a guy who can make plays on the ball.  Tomlin and Colbert being at his Pro-Day and their clear interest in him make me think he might be the guy even if Devin Bush falls to 20.

Zach Metkler

Greedy Williams, CB – LSU

What they said:

Since the LSU Pro Day, the Steelers (specifically Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert) have seemingly been enamored with Greedy Williams. He fits the mold of traditional Steelers’ 1st round draft picks: a younger underclassman with elite athleticism from a Power 5 school.

Williams also brings the benefit of top tier coverage skills with fantastic ball skills and production (8 interceptions over the past two years).
