Steel City Underground presents “Steelers Throwback Thursday” featuring plays from recent seasons which you may have forgotten about! Now we’re “bringing them back!”

In the final week of the 2016 regular season, DeAngelo Williams returned to the Steelers lineup as several starters, including starting running back Le’Veon Bell, rested for the playoffs.

Pittsburgh fell behind early to their opponent, the Cleveland Browns, 14-0, and were having difficulty getting anything going on offense. Luck struck in the form of a bad snap which was recovered by the Steelers defense, breathing new life into the other side of the ball as Pittsburgh appeared to be going into halftime scoreless.

Their fortunes, however, changed.

With Landry Jones under center, the Steelers setup shop in the red zone, threatening to score from the Cleveland 11-yard line. Jones stepped back to pass and went through a series of progressions before quickly dumping the ball off to Williams.

DeAngelo breaks an initial tackle, makes another Brown miss, and then extends his entire body while remaining upright.

Williams’ knee never touches the ground and the score is good, giving the Steelers backups a chance to comeback and win the game, in overtime, by a final score of 27-24.
