Plays of the Year: Precursor to the Immaculate Extension

Steel City Underground presents “Plays of the Year” featuring the tops runs, catches, hits and everything else in-between for the Steelers 2016 season.

We looked back at an incredibly ugly road game against the Baltimore Ravens in our latest 2016 Recall, where Ben Roethlisberger came back sooner than anyone would’ve imagined from a meniscectomy on his injured knee.

The game was full of miscues from both teams, and both sides of the football: penalties, blocked punts, big plays, interceptions, and missed opportunities to turn the tide plagued the Steelers into a dismal fourth quarter inside of Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium.

Down 21-0, Pittsburgh had yet to answer or even look like themselves.

Then, you find a gem of a play, maybe not the best play of the year, but one that appears to be a signature Ben Roethlisberger extension turned into finding his favorite wide receiver, Antonio Brown.

In fact, this play looks incredibly familiar to the “Immaculate Extension” which put the Steelers over the Ravens, and into the postseason, on Christmas Day.
