SCU’s Best NFL Jersey Tournament: Eagles vs. Browns
Welcome to Steel City Underground’s latest March Madness creation: The “Best” NFL Jersey Tournament!
Now I know you’re wondering, just what the heck is this? Well, during the dead months of the NFL offseason, we honestly don’t have much to talk about… except for college basketball… and since the NCAA March Madness tournament isn’t football, we decided to blend the two after a recent internal debate about which team has the best uniforms.
Rather than tell you our (boring) opinion on all 32 teams, we decided to let you, the fans, decide: what franchise has the best jerseys?
Before we get started, here are some ground rules about how the tournament was set up. First, this is a “best” and not “greatest” tournament. Semantics matter, because we’re only voting on the current uniforms as of March 1st, 2018.
Second, we are not being specific as to which uniform combination is the best, because then we’d go on for months. Some teams have as many as four different uniforms they could wear on any given Sunday. Then you have Color Rush craziness and further, teams like the Dolphins, Colts, and Cowboys who like to promote themselves as a Tide commercial (you know, because they always wear white!)
Then there’s the Cleveland Browns, who can’t decide if white or brown tops are their “home” jersey (they wore both at home last season).
Therefore, we’re including all of the regular kits (sorry Color Rush, not you) for comparison by our readers. We prepared our bracket by using a magic formula (place of finish at the end of the season) and will set loose a new matchup every day of March until a winner is determined. (The full tournament bracket will be posted following the end of Round 1, just to keep you guessing!)
Without further adieu, here are today’s contestants:
(1) Philadelphia Eagles
The Super Bowl champions are the one seed of our tournament, gracing us with a green and white uniform set that has grown all too familiar over the years.
(32) Cleveland Browns
The loveable losers, the Cleveland Browns, finished a perfect season (0-16) to become our bottom seed. Can their uniforms, with an “upgraded” orange and a modern makeover get them their first victory of 2018?
