Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2019 season. Stay tuned as we hand-select the very best from the black and gold!

Down 20-10, the Arizona Cardinals were searching for a spark from their offense in much the same way the Steelers defense was searching for a spark from their defense.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the pendulum would swing in the Steelers favor as Kyler Murray, the 2019 NFL Draft’s top overall pick, would be picked off three times on the day after having only thrown a total of six interceptions all season!

One of those picks would come from an NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt. Watt, who has 12.5 sacks on the season, would add his second interception of 2019 on this play as Arizona threatened to score from Pittsburgh’s six-yard line.

Watt lines up at the bottom of the screen in pass coverage, which was an odd look, but a designed play with the Steelers outside linebackers each in a position to limit the Cardinals shifty quarterback from sprinting into the endzone.

As both Bud Dupree and Watt drop, Murray is flushed out of the pocket, sees as number of white jerseys in front of him and makes a decision to instead throw the ball: except that he underestimates (or flat-out doesn’t see) T.J. Watt’s ability to make the play.

The turnover cost Arizona points in a tight game that would eventually be won by the Steelers with a final score of 23-17.
