Watch: T.J. Watt sacks, strips Jets QB Sam Darnold

Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2019 season. Stay tuned as we hand-select the very best from the black and gold!

Down early by a score of 10-0 to the New York Jets, the Steelers needed a spark. Part of that was provided when Mike Tomlin made a move to bench Devlin Hodges in favor of Mason Rudolph, with the latter orchestrating a drive that saw the team’s first points in the game.

Now within a one-score game trailing 10-3, the Steelers would get a spark from their stout defense.

The New York offense gained singificant yards with a few chunk plays that saw them approach midfield with a little over a half of a minute remaining in the second quarter, before disaster would strike!

The Steelers defense, as it had all day long, answered: T.J. Watt firmly planted his flag as a Defensive Player of the Year award candidate by not only hitting Jets QB Sam Darnold, but ripping the ball from him too!

This would setup the Steelers offense to tie the game right as the clocked ticked down to halftime, with Pittsburgh receiving the ball to start the second half.

Unfortunately the change in momentum would not continue as the Steelers would fall in the end by a final score of 16-10.
