Watch: Steelers’ Kyle Dugger goes vertical for interception

Following every NFL game in 2025, Steel City Underground parses the best plays from the Pittsburgh Steelers to highlight for Steelers Nation fans to rewatch, complete with what led up to the big play(s).

In Week 17 of the 2025 NFL regular season, the Pittsburgh Steelers went head-to-head with the Cleveland Browns on the road and walked away with a disappointing 13-6 loss. While the Steelers offense sputtered, the defense held up their end and grabbed two interceptions in the game that weren’t turned into points. Had the takeaways been converted into touchdowns by the Steelers, their meeting with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18 wouldn’t be a make it or break it game to decide the champion of the AFC North division.

Just one week removed from making our highlight reel for Hit of the Week against Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions, safety Kyle Dugger had another outstanding play.

On Cleveland’s first offensive series of the fourth quarter, ahead 10-6, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders and the Browns started at their own 44-yard line after a missed Chris Boswell field goal for Pittsburgh. On 1st and 10, Joel Bitonio was flagged for a false start and the Browns were moved back five yards. On 1st & 15 from the CLE 39, Sanders was able to get a pass to Raheim Sanders for 10 yards before Cameron Heyward made the tackle.

On 2nd & 5 at the CLE 49, Sanders took the snap with two players in the offensive backfield to either side of him and a tailback behind. The Steelers applied pressure with their defensive line while Alex Highsmith dropped back into short coverage. Inside linebacker Malik Harrison was able to break off of his block and pressure from Sanders’ blind side while Derrick Harmon got leverage on the other. Sanders lofted a ball up for Jerry Jeudy, but Dugger easily read the play and jumped the route for an interception.

Dugger has proven to be a valuable pick-up by the Steelers this season. In an already shallow defensive backfield, his play has made a difference. Dugger led all Steelers defenders in the game with 5 solo tackles (8 total) as well.
