NFL Draft Day 3 targets for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Day two is in the books. Raise your hand if you knew the Steelers would take Diontae Johnson at 66… nobody should have their hands up!
The Steelers got two players they sought after on day two, and you figure they came away extremely satisfied. As should the rest of us be. Now it’s time to look ahead to day three.
Let’s start off with the players who are still on the board that maybe we didn’t think would be.
Who’s Left?
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson sticks out like a sore thumb. Are teams scared of his position? Does he have one? Or was he too inconsistent? Who knows? But he’s still on the board and you won’t hear any complaints if the Steelers take him.
You also have linebackers three and four on my board: Mack Wilson and Blake Cashman. If the Steelers chose to double dip there, could it be one of those two? It’s possible if they double dip they also look at David Long out of WVU, Gary Johnson, Ulysses Gilbert, and Ben Burr-Kirven.
There are also a couple of receivers left on the board that could have been options had Pittsburgh not taken Johnson. Kelvin Harmon, Hakeem Butler, Emmanual Hall, David Sills V. Same goes with the cornerback position and Julian Love and Amani Oruwariye.
Positions of Need
With receiver and corner off the board on day two, we now look towards some of the targets at other positions the Steelers may look at filling in day 3.
Still, at safety, you have Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and also Ugo Amadi, Dravon Henry, Khari Willis, and Marvell Tell.
Edge rushers on the board are Charles Omenihu, Justin Hollins, Jaylen Jelks, Sutton Smith, Anthony Nelson, Mack Crosby, and Shareef Miller.
Tight ends include Foster Moreau, Alize Mack, Dawson Knox, and Dax Raymond.
Best of the Rest
Adding to the mix on day three are some players at lighter positions of need. Could look at some offensive line depth, with players like Isaiah Prince, Garrett Brumfield, Beau Benzschawel, Bunchy Stallings.
And lastly, that running back position the Steelers showed interest in. Those names include Justice Hill, Mike Weber, Kerrith Whyte, Travis Homer, Jordan Scarlett, Benny Snell, and Ty Johnson.
With picks still at 122, 141, 175, 207, and 219 the Steelers have room to play. Here’s to a fantastic finish!
