Punter probably shouldn’t taunt the Steelers by burning Terrible Towel

Usually, when parents wish you good luck, it’s a short message; but not if you’re the mother of Redskins punter Tress Way.

Way’s motherΒ posted a video via Twitter this morning, showing them burning a Terrible Towel, as an extra “good luck” charm…

File this under “here we go again.”

Countless opponents over the years have tried to use the spiritual symbol of Steelers Nation as a motivational tool against Pittsburgh, only to see those plans backfire in the end.

Who could forgetΒ T.J. Houshmandzadeh shining his shoes with the towel over a decade ago, before then head coach Bill Cowher used that image to instead motivate his own team to victory?

There are many other examples of teams and players essentially cursing themselves by defacing the Terrible Towel, and each of them have met the same fate in the end.

However, Mrs. Way is probably unaware that punters are a target in Pittsburgh. Just ask Kevin Huber and Spencer Lanning what happens when punters try to playΒ football against the Steelers.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say drawing attention to yourself, especially if you’re a punter, by posting a video of disgracing an entire Nation, is not aΒ good idea!
