The Pittsburgh Steelers weren’t favored to beat the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on New Year’s, but win they did, 16-13.

For the second week in a row Pittsburgh’s offense orchestrated a comeback drive late in the game for the win, but it wouldn’t have been as possible had the defense not come through.

Down by five, with just 5:05 left in the game, the Baltimore offense had used a pass to Mark Andrews and runs from J.K. Dobbins to get to a third-and-two at their own 44-yard line. It appeared that the Ravens would just run out the clock and then go for a score. Cameron Heyward had different ideas.

Tyler Huntley snapped the ball from the shotgun position and handed the ball to Dobbins who tried to hit the gap by the right guard. Heyward pushed Ronnie Stanley hard into the Ravens offensive backfield as the Steelers defensive front also pressured, right into Dobbins.

Heyward got off the block and was able to wrap his arms around Dobbins and stuffed the run short of the first down marker for no gain.

Heyward, who’s been playing outstanding ball this season, read the play perfectly and had support from Mark Robinson after the initial wrap-up.

The Ravens were forced the punt the ball away. With a touchback, the Steelers offense was able to get the ball back and use the time that was left to go 80 yards down the field for the game-winning touchdown pass from Kenny Pickett to Najee Harris.
