Mike is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Business Management. He lives at home with his Love Jillian, their two children and their Doberman/Shepherd mix Kylee. When he’s not covering the Steelers; Mike enjoys traveling with Jillian, playing with their kids, cooking, watching comedy, swimming and doing anything he can with the sport of baseball. His favorite time of year is Fall, which he claims is because of the weather but anyone that knows him knows it’s Steelers season.

Mike’s passion for the Steelers began as a child and as the passion grew, so did his desire to get involved with the team in any way he could. Eventually that led to the formation of his website www.steelnationassociation.com. Steel Nation Association allows Mike to cover the Steelers while connecting Steelers fans together in an effort to raise money for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

If you’re interested in helping the cause, please visit the site to learn more. He also hosts the Steel Nation Radio podcast via his site and contributes to the New Pittsburgh Courier via his column Steel Sensations. Mike was the Pittsburgh Steelers reporter for Steel Nation Magazine and his work has been picked up on other outlets as well. He’s been a guest on Sirius XM radio and the TV show Pittsburgh Sportsline. He’s extremely excited to be working with Steel City Underground and bringing great stories and strong opinions to a broader Steelers Nation audience.

Ryan Switzer is the Steelers “X” Factor

In the past few years, if I were describing a Steelers receiver and told you they were fast, agile, capable of making impactful plays over the middle and as a return specialist, you’d probably think I was describing Antonio Brown. And if I left the description at just those characteristics, ...

What needs to happen next for the Pittsburgh Steelers

There’s a new roller coaster going into Kennywood Park in 2019 called the Steel Curtain. Perhaps they should name the coaster “Steelers 2018 Season” instead because that’s exactly what this past year was, a roller coaster. From the opening season tie to the Browns, to the six-game winning streak to ...

Steelers reliance on “others” results in a long offseason

The Cleveland Browns finished their season with a much improved 7-8-1 record. But as Baker Mayfield threw that season-ending pick in Baltimore, the Steelers season died along with it. Though you could say the season died in Cleveland four months ago, long before Mayfield had ever taken the field for ...

Steelers, Bengals Week 17 Keys to the Game

The Steelers enter the final game of the season in a must win situation and in need of help from their rival Cleveland Browns over their other rival, the Baltimore Ravens. However, if the black and gold don’t get past the Bengals on Sunday, nothing else matters. I fully expect ...

It’s time for the Steelers to move on from Mike Tomlin

The time has come. The Mike Tomlin era needs to be over in Pittsburgh. Barring some miracle run that gets the Steelers to the Super Bowl, the Black and Gold must move on. You are probably asking: Why should the Steelers move on from a coach who has never had ...

Steelers, Patriots Week 15 Keys to the Game

The Steelers are in dire need of a win after having lost their last three games, in rather unimpressive fashion. Their reward? A game against a New England Patriots team who’s coming off a loss and just needs one win to clinch the AFC East. The Steelers find the Baltimore ...

It’s time for the Steelers to shake things up

Super Bowl windows typically aren’t open for very long, unless you’re the Patriots. Seemingly, the Steelers have had a pretty wide-open window over the last four years, when they have made the post-season and had the Killer B’s. That window was supposed to be pretty wide open again this year ...
